Currently, EU Directive 2006/42/EC is in force. This directive will remain valid until Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces it in 2027.

Can I inspect lifting equipment myself or does it have to be done by an accredited inspection company?
Yes, this is allowed. This is only allowed if you can demonstrably prove that you have sufficient knowledge of the laws and regulations, standards, and the technology of a lifting device. You can acquire this knowledge through courses at, for example, EKH and TCVT.
Do you have insufficient knowledge or time to carry out the inspections yourself? Then it is advisable to outsource this to an expert party with the necessary expertise.
