De Petzl OMNI is een halfronde karabiner die ontworpen is voor belasting uit meerdere richtingen. Waar een gewone karabiner sterk is op de lengte-as en zwak op de breedte-as, houdt de OMNI 25 kN multidirectioneel.

Dat maakt hem geschikt voor toepassingen waar de trekrichting niet vastligt, bijvoorbeeld bij borstgordels of evacuatiedriehoeken. De ronde vorm zorgt dat de last zich kan verplaatsen zonder dat de karabiner dwars komt te liggen.
